Compliance and Ethics Programs Are Necessary
October 6, 2008
Major corporate scandals can be prevented if organizations have an effective compliance and ethics program, according to 55 percent of the 540-plus ethics and compliance officers who recently completed an Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) online poll.
A much larger majority of poll respondents (90 percent) indicated that even "organizations with a strong ethical climate and a well-trained workforce" still need to run a formal compliance and ethics program.
By the way, OCEG's "Redbook 2.0" compliance handbook can be downloaded by providing some information at the site. Although the nearly 200-page document is yet to be finalized, it provides an abundance of practical GRC information, including thorough guidance, packed with practices and sub-practices, for creating and operating a formal ethics and compliance program.
