GRC Software Selection: A Condensed Version
June 16, 2008
For the past several years, I've been asking GRC professionals how they settled on software to help them automate GRC processes. What I like about Dominic Fernando's responses is that they get to the point quickly -- and tend to be shorter than his title: manager, global control self assessment, at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG):
Why did IHG need the application?
To replace our current control self-assessment software, which is very manually driven and requires a large amount of administrative resources. In addition, it is not cost effective due to increased professional services fees and does not support Japanese (an emerging market for IHG).
How did the selection process work?
Through various sources, I found seven vendors and requested them to present their solution to me, our senior manager of global hotels assurance, and our head of internal audit. This process took approximately three to four months, until a final selection was made.
